Robert “Butch” Sterba, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on January 15, 2026, just three days after celebrating his 78th birthday. Born on January 12, 1948, in Omaha, he remained a lifelong resident of the city that shaped his life and where he built lasting connections with friends and family.
Butch is survived by his children; Bob Sterba, Rebecca Currington, Micheala Freygang (Jeff), and Jennifer Smith. He took great pride in his role as Papa to Zephan, Vega, Eric, Janelle, Xavia, Joey, Juliet, Cole, and Bella. His family was central to his life and brought him immense joy throughout the years.
He shared many cherished years with his wife, Sue, who preceded him in death. Though they were only apart for a short time, the family finds comfort in knowing they are now reunited once again.
Butch was also preceded in death by his parents, Eunice (Miller) and Robert Sr., as well as sisters Sandy, Linda, Laurie, and Judy; and brother Greg. His memory lives on through his surviving siblings: brothers Steve and Dennis and sisters Jean and Elaine.
May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him.
