Survived by daughters Deb Odom and Patty O'Bryan (Pat), son Ken Stodola, grandchildren Tory Hayden, Rachel Chavez, Madison and Mason O'Bryan, and great-grandchildren Donavan, Macy, Veronica, Isela, Daisy, and Henry, Benny, and Bella.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Gilbert Stodola, son Steven Stodola, and infant twin daughters.
Ruby grew up on her family farm with three sisters and a brother. She moved to Omaha and married Gilbert when she was 20. After Gil's passing in 2013, she lived alone in their home until days before she passed. She was very independent and loved pet-sitting, eating out, watching game shows, baking, and seeing her family grow up to her final days.
Throughout her life, Ruby has always put others before herself. She enjoyed babysitting kids, including a 20-year childcare role for a church. She loved animals (especially cats and dogs) and fed the birds daily. She collected chicken and cardinal figurines.
She enjoyed gardening, house-plants, traveling to National Parks, taking walks, camping, cooking, and baking. She was well-known for the frosted sugar cookies she made from scratch for holidays.
Instead of flowers or plants, please consider donating to one of Ruby's favorite charities:
March of Dimes, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, or Nebraska Humane Society.
A Visitation for Ruby will be held Monday, January 27, 2025 from 5 to 7 pm at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will occur Tuesday, January 28, 2025 at 10 am at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, followed by Burial at Calvary Cemetery.
