She was born on February 26th 1949 in Council Bluffs Iowa. Sue grew up with a strong sense of family, faith, and resilience — values she carried with her throughout her life. She dedicated herself to loving and supporting those around her, especially her husband, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Sue was a devoted animal lover. She believed every life deserved kindness and care, and over the years she opened her home and her heart to many animals. Sue loved horses as well and found joy in sharing her passion with her children and grandchildren. She taught them how to saddle, groom, feed, and ride, instilling in them the values of patience, hard work, and compassion. Their time at the barn became filled with laughter and life lessons.
Her greatest joy was her family. She cherished family gatherings, holidays filled with laughter, and watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow. She had a gentle heart, a listening ear, and a way of making everyone feel welcomed and cared for. Whether through quiet conversations, home-cooked meals, or simply sitting together, Sue made people feel at home.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Darrell Wesley Vaught, mother, Dorthy Hubbard, father, Mervil Jackson, sisters, Sharon Gilbert and Linda Stahl, nieces Tammy and Katrina Gibson.
She is survived by her children: Jessica (Charles) Gordon, Tonya (Craig) Faust-Vaught, David (Jennifer) Vaught, and Jennifer (Brian) Bogan, Jason Arnold; grandchildren Chrystian (Eleauna) Gordon, Khloe Gordon, Alyssa Gordon, Kaitlin Vaught, Nick Lesac, Dakotah (Matthew) Gilleland, Cierra Klimek, Hunter Vaught, Koral Faust, Jasmine Bogan, DeVaughn Bogan, DeShawn Bogan, Marcellus (Esmeralda) Riverz, and Stephanie Arce; great-grandchildren Brantley Bowles, Waylyn Bowles, Maverick Gilleland, Jameson Gilleland, Payton Gilleland, Iris Gordon, Lunabella Vargas, and Marisol Vargas; her sister, Sandra Stahl; her brother Johnny Perkins; along with extended family and many dear friends.
Sue’s legacy lives on in the strength of her family, the lessons she passed down, and the love she gave so freely.
