Sue recently retired from Chesterman Coca-Cola, after spending 35 years building a career where she grew through several roles she was truly proud of. Her work ethic, leadership, and dedication were a defining part of who she was. While she loved her coworkers turned family, she was looking forward to spending more time with her family and had been enjoying a ‘slower pace’.
Sue is survived by Robert “Butch” Sterba- her greatest love and, as she would jokingly say, her biggest pain in the ass; her children, Rebecca Currington, Micheala Freygang (Jeff), Jennifer Smith; her grandchildren, Zephan, Vega, Eric, Janelle, Xavia, Joey, Juliet, Cole, and Bella. She was preceded in death by her parents, Doris Service and Kenneth Koerselman; her siblings, Shari and Kenneth.
Sue was known for her warmth, her humor, and her fierce love for her family. She enjoyed music — especially anything, Phil Collins and Genesis, she was a loyal Dallas Cowboys fan, she loved sharing that passion with her family. The wins, loses, and all. She found her greatest happiness being surrounded by those she loved, especially her grandchildren. She would want to be remembered simply as a loving wife, mom, and grandma — and she was all of that and more.
A Visitation with the family will be held on Friday, January 2, at 10 a.m. at Westlawn-Hillcrest Funeral Home, Memorial Service to directly follow at 11 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you honor Sue by gathering with those you love, sharing a laugh, and holding family close — just as she always did.
