She was born on April 10, 1944 in Summit, the daughter of Isaac and Dorothy (O’Dell) Rifenbark.
Barbara was known for her love of children, especially those she took care of. She also loved animals and had a heart of gold.
Barbara is survived by her brother, Gerald Rifenbark and his wife Patricia of Davenport Center; her nephew, Michael Fitch and his significant other Deb of Oneonta; her niece, Shelley Adams and her husband Phillip, and their children; as well as several more nieces, and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald Thorne; her parents, Isaac and Dorothy; her sisters, Betty and Virginia; and her brothers, Fred, George and Joe.
Friends are invited to greet the family on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 from 11 am to 12 pm at the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main St, Oneonta, where a funeral service will take place immediately following at 12 pm.
Burial will take place at a later date in South Valley Pleasant Brook Cemetery, Cherry Valley.
I lieu of flowers, donations in Barbara’s memory are asked to be made to Catskill Area Hospice or the Susquehanna Animal Shelter.
