Caela Ann DeCarr

She was born on April 15, 1986, in Virginia Beach, VA, the daughter of Carla Wolfe of Utica, NY, and David Jones of Sidney, NY.

Caela graduated from Oneonta High School in 2003. Following high school she attended R.I.T. in Rochester, NY, for photography.

She was employed at Laund Ur Mutts in Fort Collins, CO, as a dog groomer where she showed her true passion for dogs. In addition, she spent many hours volunteering for 4 Paws Pet Pantry.

Caela was always a natural-born traveler. She lived in Virginia Beach, VA, Oneonta, NY, Rochester, NY, Maui, HI, and Fort Collins, CO.

She had a passion for travel, adventure and being outdoors. It became clear at a young age she would be destined for a life of excitement. Caela was a generous and kind person who loved the peaceful feeling that nature provided; she was truly a free spirit.

Caela absolutely loved living in Colorado where she could hike, and walk the river with her friends and her dog Carter, her constant companion. She especially loved her friends and family, and they all loved her dearly.

Caela is survived by her cherished dog Carter, her mother Carla (Frank Duffy) of Utica, NY, step-father Charles Wolfe III of Mooresville, NC; her father Dave and step-mother Karen Jones of Sidney, NY; her grandfather Chester DeCarr (Jane) of Oneonta, NY; her brothers Matthew Gunther (Elle) of Sumter, South Carolina, Chandler Wolfe of Mooresville, NC, and Dillon Jones of Sidney, NY; her sister Kristen Jones (Jonathan Moore) of Sidney, NY; her two nephews Kurt Gunther and Wyatt Moore; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and her beloved friends throughout the country. She is preceded in death by her maternal grandmother Ann Marie DeCarr and paternal grandparents Ted and Doris Jones.

Calling hours will be on Friday, June 26, from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. at Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta, NY. Funeral services will be Saturday, June 27, at 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Friends and family are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Caela at the Oneonta Vet’s Club, 279 Chestnut Street, Oneonta, NY, Friday, June 26, immediately following calling hours.

Memorial donations in Caela’s name can be made to the Fossil Ridge Animal Hospital, Dr. Jill Weich, DVM, 4848 S. College Avenue, Unit B, Fort Collins, CO 80525. Donations will be for Carter’s future veterinary services.
