Catherine Pedersen

She was born October 2, 1931 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn the daughter of the late Albert and Frances (Scott) O’Keefe.

Catherine graduated from Tottenville Central School in Staten Island.

On July 9, 1949, Catherine married Erling Pedersen in Maryland.

Catherine worked at the Aluminum Plant in Oneonta for several years and then for 30 years she was the clerk at the East Meredith Post Office until her retirement.

Catherine enjoyed spending time on her computer. She loved couponing on the computer and playing Mahjong. She also loved her lotto scratch off tickets. But most of all she loved spending time with her family, especially playing penny poker with her sisters.

She was a member of the Davenport Center V.F.W. Ladies Auxiliary since 1994 and the Delhi American Legion.

Catherine is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Erling “Pete” Pedersen of East Meredith; three daughters, Frances Epps and Paul Critte of Oneonta, Catherine Quackenbush and husband, Donald of Cherry Valley and Maureen Jung and husband, Thomas of Schwabisch Hall, Germany; five grandchildren, Nicole and Richard Brovetto, Michelle and Joe Muller, Jonathan and Lisa Sobers, Kirsten and Brandon Lundy and Donald “DJ” and Amanda Quackenbush; eight great grandchildren, Taylor, Samual, Nicole, Jessica, Brandon, Jonathan, Michael and Brianna; two sisters, Loretta Long and husband, Bill and Evelyn Wieczierick and husband, John; one brother, Albert O’Keefe, Jr. and wife, Grace; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; one great granddaughter, Destiny Hope Sobers; and three sisters, Mary Pittius, Gloria Whittaker and Dorothy Brown.

Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 7:00 to 9:00 PM. Funeral and burial services will be private. Memorial donations in Catherine’s name may be made to the East Meredith EMS, County Highway 10, East Meredith, New York 13757.
