Dennis Valente

He was born April 11, 1955 in Queens, New York the son of Carmine and Margaret (O’Connor) Valente. On February 4 , 1978, Dennis married Patricia Borg in Elmont, New York.

Dennis was a master repairman of windup phonographs, Davenport Garden Center manager and grower, Town Councilman, Supervisor for the Town of Davenport for more than 17 years, Delaware County Board member and Water District operator.

Dennis was passionate about people and nature, reading and learning, sharing and participating. He aspired to make a difference. Dennis truly appreciated the wonders of life.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Patricia, son, Alex and partner, Geneane Paulis, all in Davenport Center; his mother, Margaret Valente, sister, Nancy Valente, brother Steven (Elizabeth) Valente, all in Floral Park and brother Mark Valente in Montana; nieces Samantha Morrow, Katelin Seeto and Isabelle Seeto, nephews Brian Valente and Kevin Valente and several cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Carmine Valente and brother, David Valente.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2023 in the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand Street from 1:00 to 3:00 PM and 5:00 to 8:00 PM, and on Thursday, April 13, 2023 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday, April 13, 2023 at 12:00 PM at St. Mary’s Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta with Rev. Christopher Welch officiating. Burial will be in the East Meredith Cemetery, followed by a reception at the East Meredith Fire Department.
