
Edith M. Haynes, 97, of Oneonta passed away Friday, September 3 at A. O. Fox Memorial Nursing Home. She was born March 30, 1924 in Harpersfield New York. Edith was a graduate of Stamford Central School.
On May 30, 1942 she married Alfred Haynes in Albany, New York. Edith worked at Bendix for over 25 years, retiring in 1982. She enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including sewing and quilting, but her greatest joy in life was spending time with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling and she and her husband spent many winters as “snowbirds” in Florida.
Edith is survived by her children, Judith (Myron) Dadson of Lutz, Florida, James (Karen) Haynes of Spring Hill, Florida, Laurine (Adam) of Washington, DC and Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and Mary Susan Haynes of Ellsworth, Maine; her 8 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, 1 great great grandson, and her brother Gerald Menhennett of Crestview, Florida. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years, her sister, Mary Caldwell Titus, her brothers, Donald Robert (Bob) Menhennett, Edward Ronald (Ron) Menhennett, her son-in-law Edward Povich and her grandson, Wilder Colson.
At Edith’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral service.
