Elizabeth Beth M. Scutt

She was born in Cooperstown on August 20, 1931, the daughter of Richard and Sally (Woodrow) Alger. She married Dwight R. Scutt on July 24, 1948, and he passed away on May 30, 2000.

Beth was devoted herself to caring for others. She enjoyed the special times spent with her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren, and caring for children of other families, as well as the patients at the Oneonta Nursing Home, where she worked 25 years.

Beth will always be remembered as a loving and giving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister. She will be sorely missed.

She is survived by four children, Garry (Donna) Scutt of Chenango Bridge, Gail Youngs of Unadilla, Patricia (Tim) Pastrick of Ravena, and Jane (Joe) Hughes of Oneonta;

11 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren; a sister, Margaret Steidle of Oneonta, and her son Tom Steidle of Rochester.

She is also survived by a special companion, her dog Lacy.

There will be no calling hours.

A service to celebrate her life will be held on Tuesday July 7, 2015 at 1:00 PM in the First United Presbyterian Church (Red Door) with the Rev. Cynthia Walton-Leavitt, pastor officiating.

Interment will be in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery.
