

He was born January 4, 1922 in Schenectady, the son of the late George A. and Elnora (Cuomo) Voris.
George proudly served his country in the United States Army during WWII and also the Korean Conflict.
He has lived in the Oneonta area for 49 years, and for many years, George had his Doctorate and was a Professor in the Education Department at SUNY Oneonta until his retirement. Following his retirement he still remained very active volunteering with Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc. and also at A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital.
George is survived by his brother, Gilbert “Bob” Voris of Schenectady; five nieces, Barbara Rossetti, Ellie Voris, Susan (Edward) Crawford, Jo-Anne (Gary) Rafalik and Diane (Paul) Thompson; one nephew, Peter Voris; as well as several great nieces and nephews. George was predeceased by his brother, Peter Voris; sister, Marie Daversa; and niece, Paula DeLorenzo.
A funeral mass will be offered on Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 10:15 am in St. Mary's Church, 39 Walnut Street, Oneonta with the Rev. David Mickiewicz, officiating. Burial will be held in St. John’s Cemetery, Schenectady at a later date.
