Jason Hafele

He was born January 30, 1977 in Cobleskill the son of David D. and Michelle (Carpenter) Hafele.

Jason graduated from Delaware Academy in 1996. He attended the Davenport United Methodist Church where he was very involved in the vacation bible school program.

Even though he had limited mobility, he enjoyed sketching and drawing. He was very creative and took pride in the many posters he made for the vacation bible school.

Jason was very personable and loved the time spent with his family, and the children living in his community. He loved sports especially the Extreme Olympics, the Yankees, NASCAR, as well as all kinds of music.

He is survived by his mother, Michelle Hafele of Maryland, and a sister, Rebecca Callahan of Maryland.

He is also survived by two nephews, Justin Beams and Mackenzie Callahan, and one niece, Kaelynn Callahan; his aunts, Denise Wainwright and her husband, David of Salem, Virginia, Lori Loring of Salem Virginia, Linda Fletcher, and Maria McAdams and her husband, Oliver of Margaretville; his uncle, Robert Carpenter of Salem, Virginia; his close cousins, Colleen Borst and her children, David Wainwright Jr., and Katherine Loring, all of Salem, Virginia and several great aunts, great uncles, and cousins.

He was predeceased by his father; his uncle, Frank Hafele; his maternal grandparents, Robert and Gene Carpenter, and his paternal grandparents, Robert and Sylvia Hafele.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, August 31, 2011at 2:00 PM in the Davenport United Methodist Church with the Rev. Nancy Russell officiating. Burial will be in the Bramanville Prospect Cemetery in Howe Caves.

Friends may call at the Lester R. Grummons Funeral Home, 14 Grand St. Oneonta on Tuesday, August 30, 2011 from 6 to 8 PM at which time the family will be in attendance.
