Louis J. Hoffman

Louis J. Hoffman, 73, of Oneonta passed away surrounded by his loving family Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the A.O. Fox Memorial Hospital following a long illness and most recently of leukemia. He & Sandy were so thankful that he didn’t suffer with pain, and were drawn very close to their God & Savior, Jesus Christ, with whom he is now with.

He was born in Oneonta, NY. the son of the late Joseph and Ella Evelyn (Hotaling) Hoffman.

Lou was employed by the Oneonta City Schools at Riverside Elementary School for many years until ill health caused an early retirement in 1996.

Lou is survived by his loving wife and best friend , Sandy Hoffman of Oneonta; two sons, whom he was very proud of, William Hoffman and wife, Paula of Doylestown, PA and their two daughters, Amber Hoffman and fiancé, Michael Minnick of Norristown, PA and Cassie Hoffman of Doylestown, PA a sophomore at Shippensburg University, and Brian Hoffman and his wife, Amy Goodrich of Berne, NY; his beloved beagle, “Barney Fife”; two sisters, Marion Murphy of Otego and Joan (Darrel) Yager of Union Springs; one sister-in-law, Shirley Raney of Greenwich, NY, one aunt, Maddie Wenck of Oneonta; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, October 31, 2013 at 11:00AM at the Westville Cemetery with the Reverend Randy Palada of First Baptist Church, Oneonta, NY officiating. Memorial donations in Louis’ name may be made to either the Delaware County Humane Society, 101 Main Street, Sidney, New York 13838 or to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc., 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, New York 13820.
