Marjorie Higgins

She was born April 4, 1924 in Stamford the daughter of the late Howard J. and Mabel (Brewster) Coons.

Marjorie graduated from Oneonta High School the class of 1942.

She began working at Western Union from 1942-1952 and then at Wilber National Bank from 1952-1960 and finally Building & Loan from 1960-1972 until her retirement.

On October 12, 1947, Marjorie married William C. Higgins at the First Presbyterian Church, Oneonta officiated by Dr. Boyd McLeary. William predeceased her on May 4, 2012.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Oneonta and at one time a member of the Oneonta Country Club and the WGA.

Marjorie is survived by her brother, Howard Coons of Oneonta; sister-in-law, Betty Coons of MD; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Robert Coons; sister-in-law, Dolores Coons; half-sisters, Mabel Myers and Marian Coons.

At Marjorie’s request there will be no calling hours or funeral service and her ashes will be placed next to her husband in the Oneonta Plains Cemetery at the convenience of the family.
