

He was born April 8, 1932 in South Gilboa the son of the late Marvin George and Emma (Stone ) Oakley, Sr.
Marvin married Arlene Goodspeed on February 7, 1957 in Stamford, NY.
For many years, Marvin worked for KSI Company in Cobleskill until his retirement.
At the age of 16 he was the youngest solo pilot in this area. In his early years he enjoyed kite and water skiing with his best friend, Charles Robinson.
Marvin was always busy. If he wasn’t tinkering on a lawn mower he was fixing something, whether it needed fixing or not. He was also a talented woodworker. Marvin also enjoyed walking his little dog Sasha. But most of all, Marvin loved spending time with his family.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Arlene Oakley of Stamford; daughter, June Churchill of Oneonta; son, Marvin and Lorrie Oakley, III of Burlington Flats; four grandchildren, Jessica Churchill of Kingston, Marc Churchill of Port Ewen, Amy and Russell Duncan of Schyler Lake and Marvin and Ashley Oakley, IV of Burlington Flats; seven great grandchildren, Courtney and Cameron Duncan, Kari, Skyler and Andrew Oakley and Kevin Aquayo and Jez’Mir King; sister, Marion and Gregory Mulstay of Saugerties; brother, Francis and Jean Oakley of Laurens; as well as several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Kevin Churchill and his brother-in-law, Charles Robinson.
Marvin requested that there be no calling hours or funeral services. If you would like to pay your respects to the family, please join them for a family gathering at the Stamford Fire Department, Main Street, Stamford on Sunday, December 2, 2012 from 11am to 2pm. Memorial donations in Marvin’s name may be made to the Stamford Fire Department and Emergency Squad, Main Street, Stamford, New York 12167.
