Max was born June 2, 1939 in Delhi, the son of the late Marguerite and Karl Zimmermann. He was married to Joyce Zimmermann for over fifty years.
As a young boy living in West Delhi, Max attended the West Delhi Presbyterian Church, and performed in many community skits. As a teenager, he was interested in football, and throughout the years, he played well enough to win some trophies for the school. In addition, he was honored to be chosen to play at the All-Star Football Game in Vestal, where he played against well-known football star Ernie Davis during the tryouts.
Max was a self-employed masonry contractor for many years, until his failing health. To his credit, he constructed many fire places, along with other masonry projects in Oneonta and surrounding area. He was a talented carpenter as well, who blessed his family with many fine heirloom pieces. He had a true love of the outdoors and loved to camp and fish. Trout fishing was one of his favorite activities and he looked forward to each April; to catching the big one in some of the local fishing holes.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce Zimmermann of Oneonta, his daughters Ruth Boyd of West Oneonta, Amy Levis, and her husband Bob Levis of Kingston NY, and Marie Stockton of West Oneonta; a sister Anna Sue Gonzalez of Tampa, Florida, a nephew Tony Gonzalez and his family of Tampa Florida; his grandchildren, Leslie Goodrich, Natalie Goodrich, Brittany Levis, Holly Levis, Lee Stockton, along with his great grandchildren, Logan and Kylie Mae as well as several nieces and nephews with their families.
