1947 - 2013
Otego, NY Muriel Ann Holstead-Moore entered into life eternal on the wings of her angels Tuesday, January 29, 2013 after a courageous and hard fought battle with an aggressive cancer. Muriel Ann was born on November 17, 1947 to the late Roland H. Holstead and Muriel M. Holstead, raised in Valley Stream, Long Island and Oneonta, New York. She was a graduate of Oneonta High School where she was a diligent student and a talented singer. Muriel Ann’s accomplishments were recognized by the Daughters of the American Revolution Award; the DAR is a non-profit, women's organization for the descendants of individuals who aided in achieving American independence. She went on to post-secondary study for the Culinary Arts and received Advanced Certification.
Muriel Ann was a proud Long Islander, but thoroughly embraced and enjoyed life in Oneonta. She was delighted in her work with Verona Oil’s Country Store where her engaging personality and managerial talents contributed to the company’s growth and success. Her later employment at North American Schuman B-Line was stimulating and challenging until her recent retirement. Her successful retail experiences enabled her to have many friends and acquaintances throughout the region that will miss her welcoming smile, authentic sincerity, and caring words.
In addition to her father, Muriel Ann was predeceased by her brothers, Dale Brent and Christopher Stephen Holstead. She is survived, to cherish her memory, by her loving and devoted husband, Roger and his daughter Melissa (Scott), grand-daughter and great grand-daughters and his daughter Michelle (Steve) and grand-daughter; her much beloved son, Robert Baldo (Judy); her mother, Muriel (Wilson) Holstead-Dix of Sidney, New York and Springfield, Massachusetts; her brother Dr. Roland Holstead (Sharyn) of Springfield, Massachusetts and her sister Deborah Holstead Sager (Ronald) of Sidney, New York. “Annie” will be sorely missed by her nieces and nephews: Lisa Holstead Monti (Dean), Cathleen Holstead Siegler (Wayne), Janet Holstead Sorenson (Kevin), Anne Holstead Santaniello (Andrew) Jessica Holstead, Joseph Holstead (Nina), Gregory Flanagan (Brandy) and by her cousins and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews; also her four-legged friend of 15 years, Mika. There are no visiting hours. A Memorial Celebration of Muriel Ann’s Life will be held at St. Matthew’s Church, Main Street, Unadilla, New York on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 11:00 am, reception following.
