He was born on May 29, 1928, to the late Sherman William and Leona Mae (Stevenson) Carson in Laurens.
Bill attended Mineville Central School and later Laurens Central School after a family relocation to Winney Hill Rd. in 1938.
As a teenager, he worked as a courier for Western Union delivering telegrams to families notifying them of a loved one’s death during World War II. In 1950, he began a life-long career at Bendix Corporation as a mail clerk. His impeccable work ethic enabled him to climb through the ranks eventually landing the responsibilities of Supervisor of Payroll and Employee Time Control where he would remain until his retirement. He was also the treasurer of the Bendix Management Club. No man was more proud of his accomplishments.
After retiring in 1986, he soon sold his Laurens home and purchased his small corner of paradise in Estero, FL, where he would spend all but four of his remaining winters with the love of his life, Jean Warner. Aside from his family and Jean, he loved nothing more than to wallow in the warmth of the Florida sun.
He loved to ride his motorcycle, to feel the suns warmth on his skin, to detail his cars, to read a good book, he loved listening to music, watching a good action movie, the time spent in Florida, a good highball, a good home cooked dinner, after dinner sweets, being a NY Giants fan and spending time with family and old friends.
Bill is survived by, Jean Warner, Sidney; son, Sherman, Queensbury; daughter, Deborah (David), Minneapolis, MN; grandchildren, Zachary and Elizabeth; sister, Allie Mae, Oneonta; and brother, John, Otego; as well as several nieces and nephews.
