

She was born August 31, 1934 in Petersburg, VA the daughter of the late John S. and Elsie M. (Hopkins) Rawlings.
Shirley married Donald G. Morrison on November 1, 1952 in East Paterson, NJ. They shared 70 years of marriage.
In June of 1968, Shirley and Donald moved their family to South Worcester from Franklin Lakes, NJ.
She was a member of First Summit Baptist Church of Charlotteville for 17 years where she sang in the choir and taught Sunday School for many years. She has been attending Main Street Baptist Church for several decades.
Shirley worked as a legal secretary for the Hon. Albert A. Baldo for 8 ½ years, specializing in estates. She then worked for 12 ½ years for the Hon. Ronald E. Rowley and then for William R. Bookhout for 7 years before retiring in 1998.
She loved to garden and cook all varieties of foods. She was an avid reader, attended Antiquarian Book Fairs and had collected many antique books.
Shirley greatly enjoyed the cats, wonderful dogs, cattle and horses that were raised on the family farm thru the years.
Shirley leaves behind her loving husband, Donald G. Morrison; daughter, Melanie M. & son-in-law, Douglas H. Hillis, South Worcester; son, Clayton G. Morrison, South Worcester; granddaughter, Bethany & husband, Adam Ondrick and their children, Logan, Blake & twins, Zoe & Colton Ondrick, MA; grandson, Micah & wife, Janette and their children, Jaden, Mia & Nolan Hillis, NJ; grandson, Adam Morrison and his daughters, Serenity & Harmony Morrison, South Worcester; and half-brother, John Kish, NJ. She was predeceased by half-sister, Jill DeGrote.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 in the Main Street Baptist Church, 333 Main Street from 11:00AM to 12:00PM. Funeral services will immediately follow at 12:00 PM with the Rev. Phil Livermore officiating. Burial will be in the Glenwood Cemetery, Oneonta.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made in Shirley’s memory to the Main Street Baptist Church, 333 Main Street, Oneonta, NY 13820.
