He was born on October 7, 1946 in Mineola, the son of John and Matilda Storey. He was the third oldest of four boys.
The family moved to Huckleberry Brook, Margaretville, where he graduated from high school (hence the nickname, “Huckleberry.”). Steve then graduated from Delhi College with a degree in Hotel Management. Shortly after that he was swept away to Vietnam, along with many of his friends, where he served honorably in the Marines.
Working as head of plant operations at both AO Fox and Sidney Hospitals, as well as running a successful heating and plumbing business rounded out his working days.
His love of gardening, restoring old cars, and having fun with his many friends in Sidney was his true joy.
Steve was predeceased by his mom and dad, as well as his beloved older brother, John, and a daughter, Jan which he showered with love and compassion.
Left to remember him forever are his brothers, Keith and Matt, as well as many nieces and nephews, and scores of friends.
To find out about a celebration of life gathering, please call his brother Keith at 607-372-5917.
As Steve would say, “Later, later.”
Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared at www.bookhoutfh.com for the Storey family.
