

He was born December 11, 1942 in Oneonta the son of the late Kenneth W. and Natalie M. (Finch) Horth.
On June 27, 1964, Vaughn married Katherine Olive McAdams. Katherine predeceased him on January 6, 2001.
For many years, Vaughn was a carpenter for the New York State Parks Department based out of Cazenovia and later Gilbert Lake State Park.
He was a collector of many things. Some of his collections included coffee pots, flashlights, cameras, cell phones and being proud of his Indian heritage he collected arrowheads. He loved listening to the Blues and was a Jets and Dale Earnhardt fan. Often referred to as the “neighborhood fix it man”, he was always helping others with whatever they needed done. But most of all Vaughn was faithful to his wife, Katie even after her passing. There wasn’t a day that went by that he wasn’t thinking of her. Vaughn also took great pleasure in spending time with his children and especially his grandchildren.
Vaughn is survived by his three children, Brenda Andreassen of West Oneonta, Robin (Shawn) McLean of Mooers and Gary Horth of Sarasota, FL; daughter-in-law, Pam Horth of Oneonta; 13 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; one sister, Karen Beadle of Venice, FL; one brother, Emerson (Valerie) Horth of SC; sister-in-law, Bonnie (Jim, Sr.) Hamm, East Meredith; many special friends especially, Donna Simons and his state co-workers; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by a son, Kenneth Horth; daughter, Misty Holling; two brothers, Gary and Keith Horth; sister-in-law, Anna Soules; brother-in-law, William McAdams.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 27, 2016 in the Bookhout Funeral Home, 357 Main Street, Oneonta from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held in the Funeral Home on Friday, October 28, 2016 at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Maryland Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Catskill Area Hospice & Palliative Care, Inc, 1 Birchwood Drive, Oneonta, New York 13820 in loving memory of Vaughn P. Horth.
