Alvera Lewman

Alvera Ruth Lewman was born May 25, 1920 in Winside, Nebraska to Gustaf and Elizabeth Rehmus. She went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Feb 24, 2023 with her three daughters by her side. She was 102 at the time of her passing.

Our dear mother enjoyed living in Upland and Ontario for 77 years. California is where she met and married our wonderful father Walton Lewman, raised her family and taught for 32 years at Chaffey High School.

She spent 10 beautiful years at Inland Christian Home but the highlight of her last days was the 4 ½ months with her oldest daughter Barbara. The freedom to have drop in family and friends, playing (and winning) spontaneous games of Skipbo, decorating Valentine’s cookies, roasting marshmallows for S’mores and purchasing fun gifts in the weekly “pop up” store brought her such joy and a twinkle in her eye.

Going on before to meet Jesus was her husband Walton Lewman, her son Bruce Lewman and her sister Adeline Sahs.

She is survived by her three daughters Barbara Lewman, Beverly Schnobrich and Bette Manes along with her two favorite son-in-laws, Alan Manes and Alan Schnobrich. Our mom truly delighted in her three grandsons, Zachary Manes and his wife Amanda, Aaron Schnobrich and Paul Schnobrich and his wife Ariel. Her three great grandchildren gave her wonderful bragging rights, Ruth Adeline Schnobrich, Andrew Bruce Schnobrich and Isaac Paul Schnobrich.

We are so grateful for the many ways the Lord blessed us through our dear mom and we will miss her very much. We pray we will continue her legacy of faith in Jesus and sharing his love until the glorious day when we will join her in our forever home with Jesus, our Good Shepherd.

A celebration of her joyous full life will be held at Redeemer Lutheran Church on 6th Street in Ontario. She has been a member there for 77 years and we would welcome those who knew our mom to join us on March 17th at 10:30 with lunch to follow.
