Antonio Moreira Meireles

Antonio Moriera Meireles of Chino, CA passed away peacefully on September 2, 2013 in Fontana, CA at the age of 81. Antonio (Pai) was born in Santo Tirso, Portugal to Antonio Ferreira Meireles and Zulmira Moreira Da Silva. He was the 2nd of four children. He moved from Portugal to California in 1964. He lived with his family in San Bernardino County for 49 years. As a young man, Antonio worked on dairy farms until he retired in 1997. Antonio became quite a gardener, and in addition to his regular job on a dairy farm as a milker, he enjoyed working in his garden, growing many fruits and flowers, including a beautiful garden of roses. Antonio was an avid soccer fan and kept vigil in front of the television any day that Portugal was playing. He had a great love of the Lord, and attended the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish for 33 years. Antonio's greatest joy in his later years was the time he spent with family, watching his grandchildren grow. He will be greatly missed by his family, who loved him very much. Antonio was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Zumira, his wife, Maria, his brother, Manuel and his granddaughter, Mercedes. He is survived by his sisters, Maria and Lucia Meireles of Santo Tirso, Portugal, his children; Antonio (Heidi) Meireles of Chino, CA, and Cesar Meireles of Chino, CA, and three grandchildren, Jacob, Tony and Noelle; nieces, nephews and cousins. The viewing will be held on Tuesday, September 10, 2013 at 5:00 p.m. at Draper Mortuary, 811 N Mountain Avenue, Ontario, CA; Rosary to be read at 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth Seton Parish, 2713 S. Grove Avenue, Ontario, CA. He will be laid to rest at Bellevue Cemetery in Ontario, CA.
