

Arlena Wood Lee was born in Riverside, California on December 18, 1924,
and was adopted by Agnes and George Wood when she was 6 years old. She
grew up in Riverside and attended Loma Linda University and lab school
at the White Memorial Hospital; she received a BS degree in Medical
Laboratory Technology in 1948.
In 1948 she married Lawrence Lee; they had a daughter, Cindy, and a
son, Ivan. After living in Blythe, CA for 8 years, they moved to Indio,
CA. There they owned Lee's Liquors until 1977, and she worked as a lab
tech at Indio Community Hospital for 30 years. After retirement she
volunteered with the Adult Literacy Program, the SHARE food charities
and many church youth programs. Arlena loved to travel and made many
trips to different parts of the world. A devoted mother and grandmother,
she was loved for her caring nature and charming smile.
She moved to Upland, CA in 2000 to be closer to her daughter. An avid
crocheter, she was known for her beautiful Afghans and baby blankets.
Other hobbies included stamp and coin collecting and keeping up with her
grandchildren.
She passed away on June 12, 2012 from metastatic breast cancer. Arlena
is survived by her children Cindy & David Fong, Ivan & Helen Lee;
grandchildren Bradley Fong, Jessica & Kristina Lee; siblings Pat & Bob
Payne, Ben & Nora Wong, Don Wong, Ron Wong; niece Robin Conn, and nephew
Ben Wong Jr.
