

Born on March 4, 1942, in Chicago, Illinois, to Fred Sr. and Marjorie Bohn the second of seven children. Charlene brought warmth and wit into the world from the very beginning. Over the course of her life, she was known for her intelligence, quick wit, and deeply caring nature—qualities that touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Charlene shared 46 devoted years of marriage with her beloved husband Richard Deater, who preceded her in death. Together they built a life filled with love and family. She was also preceded in death by her daughter Shawn Deater and her parents Fred Bohn Sr. and Marjorie.
She is lovingly remembered by her son Michael Deater (Sylvia) of Tehachapi, CA; Tracy Jones (Delbert) also of Tehachapi, CA; and Constance Cluff (David) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA. Her legacy continues through her 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren, each a testament to the enduring bonds she nurtured throughout her life.
Charlene is also survived by her sisters Gerry McVey of Kuna, ID; Judy Huber of Nampa, ID; and Terri Carrier of Kuna, ID. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will remember her fondly.
A woman of many interests, Charlene had a lifelong passion for history. She embraced multimedia in all its forms, whether reading books and magazines, watching television and movies, or playing electronic games. In later years, she delighted in traveling and savoring new experiences with enthusiasm.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Draper Mortuary, located at 811 N Mountain Ave., Ontario, California 91762. Burial will immediately follow at Bellevue Memorial Park.
Charlene’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her legacy bring comfort and inspiration to all whose lives she touched.
