Edward Corey Bonestroo

Edward Corey Bonestroo was born on June 8, 1992 and passed away on February 10, 2018 in Chino. Named after both of his Grandfathers whom he was very close with, Corey, as he was known, was an amazing young man with a very bright future ahead of him. He was a loving son, brother, uncle, boyfriend, and friend. Always the spark in every situation, Corey was able to fit in and thrive in any social situation.

A graduate of Ontario Christian where he attended preschool through 12th grade, he lettered in football and volleyball. He loved going to the river, to Glamis, snowboarding, skateboarding, playing football, working out, hiking, dreaming about cars and bikes, and riding his Dyna. Corey was often found hosting bonfires for his friends at his family’s shop. Corey and his future wife, Kristen Lee, had a very active life together, often going to concerts, the beach, wine tasting, or on walks together.

Corey was a first responder by nature. He had previously been an EMT, graduated Crafton Hills fire academy, was a deputy sheriff with the Los Angeles County Sherriff’s Department, but was most recently pursuing his life’s passion to become a firefighter. He was a recruit in Los Angeles County Fire Department Class 150 and was 6 weeks away from graduation. He spent his last 2 weekends getting a taste of his dream going on ride alongs in 2 stations which confirmed his decision and made him even more excited for his future career.

He is survived by his mother Nancy, girlfriend Kristen, brother Justin (wife Cally), sister Robin (husband Ryan), nephews Seth and Case, and nieces Claire and Peyton. His father preceded him in death just 3 days prior to his untimely death. We will all miss his smile, his quick wit, his loving nature and his ability to bring life and fun to every situation.
