Helen Lenore Peterson

Helen was born on November 6, 1916 to Albert and Olga "Tillie" Olson in Salem, South Dakota. She graduated from the University of South Dakota in 1941 with a Bachelor Degree and a Minor in Music Education. Later that year she married Murvin Aldo Peterson and together made the trip west to California. She began her career in 1942 teaching music to elementary grade children until her retirement in 1981.

From the late 1940's through 1983, Helen used her music talent as an organist/accompanist for Westminster Presbyterian Church and Apple Valley Presbyterian Church. She was also an accompanist to The Melodiers for five years.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Joanne Mc Aleer-Mersch of San Juan Capistrano, California and Carol Fleming of Palm Desert, California. Her legacy is enhance with four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and her brothers, Roy and Ralph Olson.

Visitation will be held from 5:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, November 5, 2015 at Draper Mortuary, 811 N. Mountain Avenue, Ontario, California. Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Friday, November 6, 2015 at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 720 N. Sultana Avenue, Ontario, California. Entombment will follow at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 W. G Street, Ontario, California.
