Jennie Sanchez Marquez was born June 2, 1922 in the city of Ontario, CA. She was 99 1/2 years old at the time of her death. Jennie was born to parents Lorenzo J. and Juana Zapata Sanchez from Mexico. Her parents were residents of Ontario at the time of Jennie's birth. In later years Jennie and Alexander A. Marquez met and fell in love and married on August 8th, 1941 in San Jose, CA.
Together, Jennie and Alex had a total of nine (9) children of which 3 were stillborn and the other 1 died 16 months later, leaving the 5 children.
Jennie's husband, Alexander, preceded her in death in 1994. Jennie's sons Alexander Jr. and Martin have preceded her in death within the past 2 years.
Jennie's employment history consisted of many years working within local restaurants: Ford Lunch, Coffee John's, and others. She also worked as an assembler for Mattel Toys in Pomona, CA for approximately 12 years until her retirement. Her election to retire was to fully devote her time to the caring of her husband, who needed constant care for his diabetes and heart condition.
Years later, Jennie moved into residence at the Mother Gertrude Home for Seniors in San Fernando, CA. After 10 years she was placed with the Santa Teresita Manor Nursing Facility where she received an exceptional standard of care and treatment. She remained at Santa Teresita until her death on December 22, 2021 at Methodist Hospital in Arcadia, CA.
Jennie loved life, nature, and adventure. She loved to travel with the family, especially camping and swimming, at the National Parks, forest, and lakes. She enjoyed all her grandchildren and assisted all her children with babysitting when needed. She loved music and often sang and played her guitar at home, and while camping. As a teenager, she loved to sing with all her sisters and family as they traveled to various work locations throughout the central valley.
Jennie leaves behind 3 children (6 preceded her), 39 grandchildren, 42 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
May Jennie rest in peace with our Lord, and with all her loved ones who preceded her; Spouse, family member, 14 brothers and sisters, Alex Jr., and Martin.
