

It is with great sadness that the family of John R. MacRill, Jr. announces his passing on Friday, May 26, 2017, at the age of 83 years.
A native of California and a long-time resident of Ontario and Pasadena, John was born in Whittier on April 6, 1934 to John and Mary (McMurray) MacRill. After graduating from Chaffey High School in 1952, he joined the Navy where he served from 1953 to 1955. Thereafter, John completed undergraduate and law school at the University of Southern California. He began practicing law on January 9, 1969 which would be the beginning of an almost 50 year career as a successful trial attorney. Before retiring in 2014, he fulfilled his life-long goal of opening his own law firm.
A father, grandfather, uncle, and brother, John had a passion for USC football, fine dining, travel, old movies, history, and the perfect martini.
John was preceded in death by his wife of 31 years, Virginia L. MacRill. He is survived by his partner in life for over two decades, Linda Hansen, of Pasadena, CA; daughter Julie Ann Marley, of Ontario, CA; daughter Mary Angela Bucur and son-in-law Sasha, of Sierra Madre, CA; son John Robert MacRill, III and daughter-in-law Deana, of Fontana, CA; and sister Jody Gagne and brother-in-law Ray, of Mt. Baldy, CA. John leaves behind four grandchildren, Dalton Marley, Alexandru Bucur, Virginia MacRill, and Charlotte MacRill.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 7, at 11:30 a.m. at Draper Mortuary, 811 N. Mountain Ave., Ontario, CA 91762. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Bellevue Memorial Park, 1240 W. “G” Street, Ontario, CA 91762.
