

Our mother, Josefa Esposo Tamayo, 87 years old passed away after extended medical condition related to illness and aging on Saturday, January 21, 2012 at 06:40 AM in Upland, California. She was a long time residence of Ontario and Upland area, although she lived briefly in Alhambra, California.
She was born and raised in Laoag, Ilocos Norte, Philippines where she completed her high school education. She attended and completed her Bachelors of Science degree in Education from Far Eastern University in Manila where she began her career teaching in the public school system for over 23 years. She immigrated to the United States in 1968 and lived in Hawaii for 5 years. While in Hawaii she worked for Host International, an in-flight food preparation company owned and operated by Marriot Corporation supervising the food preparation for the airline industry. After moving to Alhambra, California, our mother decided yet to try another career change by working for the Episcopal Nursing Home until she retired in the early 1980s with her husband in Ontario, California.
She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Reynaldo Tamayo; two sons, Anthony Tamayo and Robert Tamayo; two daughters, Marie McHone and Carmelita Keller; 15 grandchildren, and 31 great grandchildren. She also leaves behind a daughter-in-law, Debbie Tamayo, several nieces and nephews. Additionally, she leaves behind 4 siblings who live in Hawaii and 1 sister in Laoag, Philippines. She was well liked and loved by many.
Our mother will join her 5 siblings and 1 daughter, Susan Tamayo, in heaven who all earthly predeceased her.
She is to be laid to rest at the Resurrection Catholic Cemetery in Montebello, California, next to our sister, Susan Grace Tamayo, who passed away in January 1976.
