Joe Bernard, a Chino Pioneer went to meet the Lord at age 97 on February 11, 2012 at St. Mary Medical Center in Apple Valley. Joe was born July 17, 1914 in Los Angeles and graduated from Chino High School in 1933.
Joe married his beloved wife Rose in 1937 raising two children JoAnn and Eddie. Joe started farming in Chino in 1942 quickly becoming known as the “Corn King” of Chino Valley. Joe and Rose moved to Hesperia in 1982, found retirement boring and opened a vegetable and fruit stand earning him the title of “Farmer Joe”. Joe Bernard was preceded in death by his Wife, Rose; two Brothers, Henry and Paul; and Grandson, Marty.
Mr. Bernard is survived by his Daughter, Joann (Ken) Burlison of Hesperia; Son, Ed (Linda) Bernard of Paso Robles; four grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Service will be held Friday Feb. 24th at 10:30 A.M. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church 14085 Payton Dr, Chino Hills.
