Josephine Marquez Castro

Devoted Mother & Grandmother

Josephine Castro passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at 93 years old. She was born November 11, 1929 to parents with the same name, Jesus Marquez & Jesus G. Marquez in Los Angeles, CA. Her husband Enrique Castro preceded her in death as did her son Jimmie, daughter Rosemary and her 7 siblings. We rejoice that she is now reunited with her loved ones.

She is survived by her 3 children, Carmen, Henry and Alfred along with their spouses.

Josie’s family continues to grow as she has 15 Grandchildren, 20 Great-Grandchildren & 11 Great Great-Grandchildren. She is also survived by one of her dearest childhood friends, Connie Ramirez, who was able to share a very sweet goodbye in her final days.

She had a 32 year career with J.W. Robinson Co. Her career started at the LA store on 7th & Grand in Downtown Los Angeles. She took great pride in working in the department store as she enjoyed fashion and dressing up. Her style was always so classy. As her career progressed, she went on to work for their distribution center in the City of Industry. She transitioned from dressing classy into a tough, hardworking lead until her retirement in 1996.

Over the years Josie had many hobbies. She loved being outdoors and basking in the sun. Family trips to the lake was a favorite. Sitting in her chair at the lake with a beer in hand will always be the perfect image of her. She enjoyed visiting casinos wherever she traveled and playing slot machines.

She loved the game of football and spent her weekends cheering on her USC Trojans and LA Rams. Along with her hobbies and the love of the outdoors, she passed on traditions from her mother to her children and grandchildren. Making her Mother’s tamales and teaching her family the recipes has become a Christmas tradition for “Josie’s Tamale Crew” that will continue for generations.

Josie leaves a legacy of strength, independence, and love. Her Catholic faith gives her family peace that she is reunited with her loved ones, and we rejoice in the celebration of her life.

Services to honor her life will be as follows:

April 12th, 2023. Family and friends will be accepted from 4:00-8:00 pm. Rosary will be prayed at 6:00 pm.

Her final resting place will be alongside her Beloved Husband immediately following church services at

Bellevue Memorial Park 1240 West G. Street, Ontario CA 91762.
