On June 27th at 4:25am, after a short battle with cancer, Bro Ken Harger departed this life. He passed peacefully while in his home, in the presence of loved ones, trusting the Lord. Bro. Kenneth Earl Harger, Jr. was born to Kenneth Earl Harger, Sr. and Margaret Dolores Harger (née: Crowe) on December 12, 1956, in San Antonio, Texas. He was the eldest of 8 children. Bro. Ken married Brenda Lee Logan of San Bernardino, California, to whom were added three children: Kenneth Parker, Benjamin Lane, and Melissa Joy. He is preceded in death by his father and mother. He is survived by Parker and his wife Melissa, Benjamin and his wife Brianna, his daughter Melissa; his grandchildren Shelby, Cooper, Brent, and Brock; his siblings Brent, Timothy, Ruth, Paula, Mark, Joel, and Margaret; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
After many years in the dens and hills of religious confusion, Bro. Ken found the home of his soul. In 2004, he obeyed the command to “come out of her my people” and took his stand with the church of God, leaving all sects and creeds of men. Bro. Ken received the baptism of the Holy Ghost subsequent to his regeneration and dedicated his life to the furtherance of the Gospel. If ever there was a Christian, Bro. Ken Harger was one. He was an encouragement to all and a man of uncompromising integrity. Sold out to God, Bro. Ken had a passion for Restoration often opening his home for troubled young men in need of a spiritual father. He was a true soul winner. He was learned in the Scriptures, used of God as a Bible teacher, and musically gifted. Always willing to help, Bro. Ken left a legacy of generosity and sincerity that beckons us heavenward as we remember his earthly example. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
Bro. Ernest Benion, Jr.
