Lorene Culpepper “Grandma Pepper” (95) of Upland, passed into the loving arms of Jesus on September 17, 2012. She was born in Wagoner, Oklahoma and after moving to California as a young girl, she attended Fremont High School in Los Angeles, California and Jacksonville Baptist College in Jacksonville, Texas. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who loved to read books, do word search puzzles, crochet and travel by motor home. She had visited all 50 states. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Upland where she taught children’s Sunday School classes and sang in the choir. She also volunteered in her daughter’s class at Victoria Groves School in Alta Loma where she received a PTA Honorary Service Award.
Lorene is survived by her children; Nelda Shepherd (John), Sheila Spears, and Lorinda Culpepper as well as her daughter in law Cheryl Culpepper. She is preceded in death by her husband of nearly 50 years, Paul and her son Ted. She has ten grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 8 great-great grandchildren.
