Petra’s ambition was to marry and raise a family. After living in Ontario, California for 50 years, she and Gustavo moved to Morro Bay, California to be close to their oldest daughter Annette Loria. Several days after the move Gustavo passed away and Petra remained in Morro Bay for 3 years then moved to Tucson, Arizona to be close to family and into a Senior Living Community. She lived in Arizona until her passing. Petra enjoyed watching the Dodger baseball games, listening to Mariachi music and her favorite singer, Vicente Fernandez. It gave her great pleasure being a loving Mother and Grandmother to her children. There were many fond memories of Thanksgiving, Christmas, birthday parties and family gatherings in Ontario. Petra would have tamales, her famous potato salad and guacamole made from the avocados from the tree in the backyard and chorizo burritos then next day. Her children often left the Ontario home with a bag of avocados, oranges and lemons from the family backyard fruit trees. She almost never left the house without her hair combed, makeup on, and nails polished and always dressed with matching purse, shoes and jewelry.
While Petra and Gustavo were married they took their daughters camping every summer to different places throughout the Western area. After Gustavo retired they discovered enjoyment at the various casinos and Petra would always leave the casino a winner, she had the best luck. She could stay at the casino all day and still come home with winnings which she often shared with her grandchildren. She never forgot a family member’s birthday, often sending the card well in advance and then would always call to offer her birthday wishes and love.
Petra was always proud of the home she kept, always very organized and immaculately clean, one of the traits she passed on to her daughters. She was a faithful Catholic and a member of the various Catholic churches where she lived.
