Ronald Ron E. Phillips

In honor and loving memory of Ronald Eugene Phillips of Upland, CA he went home to the Lord on August 26th, 2011 at the age of 77. He passed on at Kindred Care Hospital in Ontario, CA due to respiratory complications.

Ronald was born to his loving and proud parents Alger Winston Phillips and Ilene Francis Hall on June 30th, 1934 at Pomona Valley Hospital, Pomona, CA. As a young child Ronald was joyous, rambunctious, and free spirited. He grew up to be an ambitious and courageous young man joining the United States Navy at the age of 17. While enlisted in the Navy Ron met the love of his life Virginia Lee Luther whom he married on December 20th ,1953. Together Ron and Jen had three wonderful children Donald, Richard, and Velinda. After being honorably discharged from the United States Navy Ron went to work for General Dynamics where he worked hard to support his family retiring from the company after 38 years.

Ron was a loving, compassionate, and inspirational father, grandfather, great grandfather, uncle, and friend. He had a passion for spending time with his family and friends whether it was a holiday, special occasion, going out to dinner, or relaxing at home telling endless jokes and stories. Ron enjoyed camping, fishing, and riding trikes. Although he took the most pride in the work that he completed in his garage building trikes from the ground up, and hand crafting several objects such as trucks, cars, flowers, and dog shaped planters through word working.

He is survived by his wife Virginia Phillips of 57 years, his son Richard Phillips of Upland, CA, and daughter Velinda Bradford of Norco, CA. Three sisters Marlene Banks of La Pine, OR, Deanna Stark of Rancho Cucamonga ,CA, and Sandy Hansen of Riverside ,CA, Nine grandchildren, four great grandchildren, several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by His son Donald Phillips, his father Alger Winston Phillips, his mother Ilene Francis Hall, step-father Otis Williams, and brother Michael Williams.
