Balbhadra was born May 27,1934 in the holy city of Varanasi, India. He was the son of Jawaharlal and Saraswati Vishambhari. As a religious man, he spent much of his early life at Hindu Temple under his mentor, Jiji. He pursued a degree in Chemistry at IIT, Kanpur and later ventured to a new land to the University of Akron to complete his PhD in Polymer Chemistry in 1963.
He met his wife in Mumbai, India, and they married in 1965 and began their family in the United States, forging the way for other family members to follow. He was on the forefront of polymer chemistry with numerous patents and retired from PPG Industries as the head of Research and Development. Balbhadra was a devout Hindu throughout his life and attended the Hindu Jain Temple in Monroeville, Pennsylvania. He enjoyed composing and singing religious songs and poetry and played the harmonium. He was a meticulous and confident researcher, a principled and dutiful individual, and a loving and kind husband, father and grandfather.
He is survived by his wife, Bhanumati Das; his children, Saurabh (Suzanne) Das and Mamata (Bhaumik) Hotha; grandchildren, Jaya Das, Priya Das, Nikhil Hotha, and Avani Hotha; his siblings, Narvada (Motilal) Dalal, Chandrakala (Haridas) Taksali, Jagannath (Vashu) Gujrati, Lata (Natwarlal) Shroff, Suman (Ramesh) Shah, and Madhu (Ulhas) Shah and many cherished family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Prahalad (Sashi) Gujrati and Shakuntala (Thakordas) Shah. He will now meet them and his Jiji.
