Born August 17, 1948, in Louisa, Kentucky, she was one of five children of the late Myrtle (Wells) and Henry Omer Wright. Carlon loved the Lord, read her Bible faithfully, and supported the Evangelistic Outreach, traveling to many revivals—her favorites were led by Calvin Ray Evans. Carlon loved her family deeply and found great joy in being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Carlon loved a good thunderstorm. She would gather her children and grandchildren and off in her truck they went to follow a storm. She had a love of nature and enjoyed being in the woods and mountains. A supermoon would grab her attention and she marveled at the spectacle it created. Carlon loved flowers and had beautiful flower gardens. Her cats were spoiled and brought her calmness and peace.
Carlon is survived by three children, Connie Laney, Obbie (Laurie) Jarrell and Michelle (Jeff) Meadows; seventeen grandchildren, Michael, Jeffrey and Destiny Laney, Shelly Caudill, Tambra Hunter, Tiffany Corwin, Crystal Jarrell, Samantha Campbell, Tessa Sexton, Dusty Jarrell, Ashley (Jon) Freeman, Zachery Martin, Miranda (Kurtis) Weyant, Jared (Amy) Meadows, Jeffrey Meadows (fiancée, Brooklynn Adkins), Meagan Meadows and John Miller; twenty-six great-grandchildren; a brother, Charles Ray Wright; two brothers-in-law, William (Judy) Jarrell and John Alan Jarrell; best friends, Linda Pierce and Sharon Bond; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Obbie Jarrell on July 24, 2021; two grandchildren, Brittany Laney and Obbie Jarrell; a brother, Willie Wright; and two sisters, Frances Williamson and Mary Elizabeth Withrow.
The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on September 8, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors and Crematory-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home with Pastor Brian Baer officiating. She will be laid to rest beside her husband in Springmill Cemetery.
