Born May 16, 1929, in Bucyrus, Ohio, he was one of five children of the late Ray E. and Mary F. (Dobbins) Spore. He graduated from Bucyrus High School with the Class of 1947. Charles was a veteran of the US Air Force during WWII. On December 11, 1971, he married Audrey P. Bailey and they shared many happy years together, enjoying activities such as ballroom dancing and gardening.
Charles was self-employed as a Manufacturing Agent for 32 years. He was a member of Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35 F. & A.M. for 65 years. He enjoyed being out in nature and hunting, fishing and boating were favorite activities.
Charles is survived by his wife of 52 years, Audrey Spore; son, Charles P. Spore; stepchildren, Mark (Nancy) Sorden and Dianna Martin; seven grandchildren, Jeanann, Brandon, Alan, Carlene, Sarah, Lytton and Torben; twelve great-grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; a brother, Gail Spore; and many beloved family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Alan Spore; daughter-in-law, Linda Spore; mother of his children, Carleen Holloman Spore; brother, Richard (Betty) Spore; two sisters, Ruth (John) Hamilton and Donna (Fred) Desporte; sister-in-law, Joyce Spore; and a step granddaughter, Grey Martin.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. Masonic funeral rites will be performed at 11:45 a.m. at the funeral home by the Mansfield Masonic Lodge #35. The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. He will be laid to rest in Oakwood Cemetery, Bucyrus, Ohio at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Richland County.
