George Washington Zeigler, Jr., was born October 17, 1946, in Medina, Ohio, one of ten children of Lucille (Huffman) Zeigler and George Washington Zeigler, Sr. He passed away at his home on October 29, 2025, at the age of 79.
George graduated from Jeromesville High School in 1964. He joined the Army and served from 1964-1967. He worked for ITT North Electric and started his own business in 1982, called Global-tron and later SPGS. He employed over 160 people at one time. In his later years, he taught Adult Education at Heartland Technology School in Ashland and at North Central Technical College in Shelby. In life he taught many people and became a mentor, colleague and friend.
He was a power quality specialist with a vast knowledge about electricity and grounding that he loved to share. He was a good cook, and his recent pleasure was college football on Saturdays. It was the only day he didn’t work. He loved his family most though and especially loved teaching and spending time with his grandchildren. He was married to Susan for almost 57 years. In 2010 he was inducted into the Ashland County Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the 1960 Jeromesville High School 6 man football team.
George is survived by his wife, Susan Zeigler; son, Levi (Whitney) Zeigler; grandsons, Logan, Locklan, Lennox, and Layne; son, Collier Zeigler; sister, Peg Dawson; brother, Andrew (Paulette) Zeigler; brother, John (Jean) Zeigler; sister, Shirley (Larry) Carver; sister, Suzanne (Bill) Parr; brother, Lee (Laura) Zeigler; sister, Delila (Chriss) Stiteler; sister, Laurie (Tim) McIntyre; sister, Vickie (Don) Goodwill; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Lucille Zeigler; his wife’s parents, Michael and Caroline Feilon; sisters-in-law, Catherine Shouppe, and Rosemary Wardle; brothers-in-law, William Feilon, Samuel Schouppe, Ronald Dawson; and nephew, Duane Goodwill.
Visitation will be on Friday, November 7, 2025, from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Wappner Funeral Directors – Ontario located at 100 S. Lexington Springmill Street. The funeral will follow at 1:00 PM. George will be laid to rest with graveside military honors by the Richland County Joint Veterans Burial Squad, at Mansfield Memorial Park.
