Leotis Lawhorn, age 81, of Mansfield, passed away Tuesday, January 21, 2025, at OhioHealth Mansfield Hospital. He was born August 1, 1943, in Lewis County, Kentucky, to the late Okey and Phyllis (Littleton) Lawhorn.
On February 16, 1962, he married Freda Bennett and they began a beautiful life. Leotis was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren. A man of great faith, he lived his life according to His word. He enjoyed debating the Bible with others. Leotis was a compassionate man who enjoyed offering prayers to the ill and performing marriage vows for those just beginning their lives together.
He was a supervisor at Bunting Bearings. Leotis enjoyed playing the guitar and was a very witty man who enjoyed being with people. He was a longtime member of the NRA and Auto Club.
Leotis is survived by his wife of almost 63 years, Freda Lawhorn; five children, Leona Goulden (Mike Connolly), Leotis Lawhorn Jr., Timothy (Jennifer) Lawhorn, Michelle (Rob) Gonzales and Phillip Lawhorn (Kelly Gandee); ten grandchildren, Bethany Goulden (Travis Cole), Geoffrey Goulden, Jessica Lawhorn, Ashley Lawhorn, Jenna Gonzales (Kade Sayre), Robbie Gonzales (Trinity Potts), Kayla Gonzales, Taylor Lawhorn, Lillian Lawhorn, and Adelyn Lawhorn; two great-grandchildren, Isla and Miles; two brothers, William (Teresa) Lawhorn and Eugene (Trudy) Lawhorn; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Joyce (Carl) Stevens and Janet (Ernest) Tackett.
The family will receive friends from 12:00-1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 1, 2025, at Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario, 100 S. Lexington-Springmill Road. The funeral service conducted by Pastor Dallas Waggle will immediately follow at 1:00 p.m. A private family burial will take place in Oak Grove Memorial Park, Lexington, Ohio.
