Born December 6, 1935, in Mansfield, Ohio, to the late George and Elsie (Young) Mitchell, he was one of seven children. Bob retired from RG Beer Corporation where he worked on many projects including Malabar Farm Barn, First Presbyterian Church, Holiday Inn, Cedar Point and many others throughout the state of Ohio. He could fix anything and enjoyed doing it. Bob was a member of Caesarea Church and one of his joys was reading his Bible and his morning Bible study with his wife, Joene. His most favorite time was spent in the company of his grandchildren.
Bob was a huge sports fan cheering on the Ontario High School teams, Cleveland Indians, Cleveland Cavaliers, Cleveland Browns and The Ohio State Buckeyes. He immensely enjoyed a lively round of Euchre with friends and family.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Joene (Ireland) Mitchell; daughter, Bobbie O’Day; son, Raymond (Jane) Mitchell; six grandchildren, Jennifer, Christopher and Zachary Mitchell, Justin (Ashley) O’Day, Jessica (Ryan) Hosack and Joseph Mitchell; eight great-grandchildren, Clarence Blevins, Audrey and Avery Hosack, Maeve O’Day, Mason and Megan Mitchell, Aaliyah and Dewan Allen Jr.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Raylynn Blevins; three brothers, Jack, Ted and Earl Mitchell; and three sisters, Helen Marsh, Virginia McCamman and Eloise Simmermacher.
A private family burial will be held in Mansfield Memorial Park at a future date. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Special Olympics.
Wappner Funeral Directors-Ontario is honored to serve the family.
