

Chip Ezell Carroll Rutledge “Chip” Ezell, 58, Deltona, Florida, died Wednesday, December 21, 2011 at the Hospice of Volusia/Flagler Care Center, in Orange City after a short but courageous battle with cancer. He was born August 31, 1953 in Lake Wales, Florida, the son of the late Carroll and Sally Ezell . A former Boy Scout, Chip attended Lake Wales High School and spent his senior year at Sanford Naval Academy, graduating in 1971. Chip attended Stetson University, Deland where he was a member of the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He moved to Deltona in 1982 from Jacksonville and was an enrollment specialist for Univers Workplace Solutions of Maitland, Florida. Chip was a member of Rotary International, an avid hunter, outdoorsman and loved the mountains and the beach and belonged to the Coleman Hunting Club, in Georgia. He cared greatly for his 3 cats but Scooter was daddy’s kitty. In 1972, Chip traveled to Kenya with the Southern Baptist Convention to help build medical clinics. Chip was a very kind and giving man always willing to help anybody and putting other people before himself. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Leecy Jackson Ezell. 1 sister, Ginny (Dave) Metzler of Lakeland, FL; 1 nephew, Michael ( Andrea) Metzler of Poinciana, FL; 5 grandnieces and nephews, Michael, Jr., Susannah, Renee, John and Abigail ;a niece, Marci Metzler of Clearwater, FL;. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Trail, Port Orange, FL 32129. A Celebration of Chips Life will be 10:30 AM,Saturday, February 18, 2012 at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, Florida.
