Dr. B.R. (Ray) Compton

Dr. Compton was born in Logan County, West Virginia on April 20, 1940, and graduated from Barboursville High School in 1957 and Marshall University in 1962. He is survived by his wife Joan Compton of 58 years. They were married on August 22, 1963.

After receiving his Doctor of Dental Surgery Degree From West Virginia University in 1968, Dr. Compton practiced dentistry in both Williamson, WV and Huntington, WV. Dr. Compton and Joan retired to DeBary, FL in 2008.

Dr. Compton adored his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by his children, Anita Neely of DeBary, Florida and Steven R. Compton and wife Jacque of Hurricane, WV; Grandchildren Megan Vandegrift and husband Bryan of Perkasie, Pennsylvania; Lauren Neely and fiancée Jack of Chicago, IL; Elena Compton of Charleston, WV; Samantha Neely of Panama City FL; Chase Compton of Hurricane, WV; Step-Grand Children Brady Parlato of Ashland, KY and Cade Parlato of Hurricane, WV; Great Grandchildren Sydney and Amelia Vandegrift; and Ray’s siblings Donna Napier and husband Ira and Jack Compton and wife Frances.

Dr. Compton is preceded in death by his parents Tivis and Ella Compton and his Sister Anna Lee Trautwein.
