
Mrs. Merrow was a resident of Florida since 1973 having moved here from Aurora, Illinois, where she was a guidance counselor in a senior high school. Mrs. Merrow had a Bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University at Macomb and a Master's degree from Northern Illinois University at DeKalb. She started teaching in a one room school at Warsaw, Illinois near where she was born. Her thirty years in the field of education included a four year term as Assistant County Superintendent of Schools of Hancock County, Illinois. She was a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and was a past matron of Batavia Chapter, Batavia, Illinois. She was a member of Southridge Golf Club and a past president of the Women's Golf Association of DeLand Country Club. She was a former member of the Deltona Garden Club and the Deltona American Legion Auxiliary. Mrs. Merrow was a member of the Deltona United Methodist Church and the Friendship Sunday School Class. She enjoyed reading, playing golf and bridge.
Survivors include her son, Scott and his wife, Terri of West Salem, IL; a granddaughter, Sarah (Dean) Roth of Aurora, IL; a grandson, John (Kelly) Merrow of Plano, IL; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 1996.
Friends may call on Friday, April 15th from 4 - 6 pm at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home, 1295 Saxon Blvd., Orange City, FL, PH: 386-775-4260. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 16th at 10 am at Deltona Memorial Gardens in Orange City.
