

Mrs. Isabel Webster Hayes, of Orange City, Fl. passed away on February 23, 2024 at the age of 105. Mrs. Hayes was born in Saltcoats, Scotland on February 7, 1919. She immigrated to the United States with her family in 1926 and attended Yonkers City Schools graduating from Roosevelt High School in 1935. She was married to Mr William R. Hayes Sr. on September 28, 1940 and shared 66 years of marriage before his passing in 2006.
Mrs. Hayes was predeceased by her husband William R. Hayes Sr., parents Mr. Charles and Mrs. Mary Marshall Webster, siblings Reverend Charles Webster (Joan), Mrs. Margaret Ditko (Steve) and Mrs. Mae Barrowman (James).
Mrs. Hayes is survived by sons, Mr. William R. Hayes Jr., Mr. Howard W. Hayes (Jacquline), and Mr. John M. Hayes (Deborah), Grandchildren, Jean Martine, Jacqueline Hayes, Scott Hayes (Rachel), Alexandra Ellis (Paul) John Michael Hayes (Danielle) and Patricia Hayes and Great-Grandchildren Alexandra Hayes, Ally Hayes, Riley Hayes, Madelyn Hayes and Isabel Hayes.
After graduating high school Mrs. Hayes attended Pace Business Institute in Yonkers and worked as a secretary for Travelers Insurance Company, Colonial Life Insurance Company, The Yonkers Public Library and lastly American Airlines. She was a long term resident of Yonkers New York, moved to Franklin Square Long Island with her husband and children for a short time before returning to Yonkers in 1956 where she lived until she retired and moved with her husband to Somers Point, New Jersey. They later moved to Palm Coast, Fl. before settling in at John Knox Village in Orange City, Fl.
Mrs. Hayes loved her family and especially her three sons. She loved the outdoors, the beach, and the ocean, she loved to engage in conversation with people from all walks of life and always enjoyed a good cup of tea and Scottish shortbread. In her earlier years she played on the banks of the River Clyde in Glasgow, Scotland, she spent many summers outdoors and at the beach with her children at the family cabin in Smallwood, NY and in later life she traveled the world including visits to 6 continents with her husband. Mrs. Hayes was always active in her church and had great faith in the Lord—while living in Long Island she and her husband were founding members of The Wesley Methodist Church in Franklin Square, Long Island. To friends and family she will always be remembered as a warm kind woman, always ready to help others and always with a smile.
A private family memorial will be held in Bronxville, New York.
