Joan G. Ryan passed away on Thursday, October 17, 2013 in Deltona, Florida. She was born on December 20, 1922 in London, England to George A. and Lena G. Heathfield. The family moved to Long Island, NY in the 1930’s, where she met and married Thomas J. Tormey in 1941. They moved to DeBary, Florida in 1981 to be with Joan’s parents. Tom passed away in 1986. Joan remarried in 2005 to Edward Ryan of Deltona, FL. Edward passed away earlier this year. She is survived by her daughter, Carole J. Jones (Tormey) of Yellville, AK and her grandson, Thomas B. Laraway of Daytona Beach Shores, FL. Joan was an extraordinary lady and lived an amazing life. She was a professional seamstress and a homemaker. She enjoyed traveling and sang in night clubs in New York in her younger years. She was active with both her husbands in the Elks Lodges in DeLand, Deltona and Sanford, Florida. She had many friends, who she loved and adored and all that met her found her to be an amazing lady.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, Nov. 2nd at 11 am at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home. Inurnment will follow services in Deltona Memorial Gardens.
