Jack was born in Washington DC on April 29, 1939. He spent his life serving his family, country and community. Jack enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1956. He served as a flame thrower operator, military police officer and drill instructor. He was honorably discharged in 1959.
Jack married Hazel Odom and had two sons John T Courtney the third and James T Courtney. He spent 43 years serving the community of Deltona with park and recreation's and Deltona little league. He has volunteered and every aspect at Deltona Little League, from umpire, coach and board member. He assisted in the actual construction of our local league at Vann park. Jack didn't just coach these children he took the time to teach life lessons including honor, discipline and respect. His unlimited hours given to the youth teaching life lessons of respect and integrity, never giving up has impacted many generations. Not only his son's but with his grandchildren were they played and volunteered as well. His life will not be counted in riches but the riches will be counted in the many lives he's touched
