world on March 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on September 19, 1940,
in Lowville, NY, Lewis was the beloved son of Anna and Stanley Badura and the younger
brother of Regina, who all preceded him in death.
Lewis’s life was defined by kindness, dedication, and service. A gifted athlete, he was a star
basketball player in high school and at SUNY Canton, where his skills on the court were only
rivaled by his determination and sportsmanship. It was during his time at college that he met the
love of his life, Janice Countryman, in January 1961. Their bond was instant and they married
in August 1961, beginning a beautiful 64-year journey of love and partnership.
Together, Lewis and Janice raised four wonderful children: Kim Marie Pratt (Ken), Rory
James Badura (Chris), Randy James Badura (Julie), and Blayne Lewis Badura (Michelle).
He was a devoted and proud father, always present on the sidelines as he coached
their basketball and soccer teams, teaching both skills and life lessons.
Lewis had a distinguished career as a Special Agent in the Criminal Investigation Division of
the Internal Revenue Service, where he served for 32 years with honor and integrity. His
career led him to remarkable experiences, including working undercover and also being part
of President Nixon's security detail. In a brush with sainthood, he had the rare privilege
of meeting Mother Teresa, a testament to his life intersecting with his faith.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Lewis was deeply committed to service and
community. As Chief of the Maynard Volunteer Fire Department, he inspired two of his
sons to become volunteer firefighters, passing down his spirit of courage and selflessness. He
was a proud and dedicated member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Grand Knight at
the local level, contributing at the state level and district level, and earning the prestigious 4th
degree. He also gave his time generously to supporting numerous charities and volunteering
generously as an officer and volunteer with various church organizations, pastoral councils,
sports leagues and his homeowner’s associations.
Lewis had numerous interests including golf, bowling, and softball, where he excelled as a
competitor. He even achieved a golfer’s dream—a hole-in-one on May 26, 2004.
Lewis’s greatest joy, however, was his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice,
his four children, 14 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren, who will forever carry his
memory in their hearts.
Lewis Stanley Badura lived a life filled with love, faith, and service, touching countless lives
along the way. Though he will be deeply missed, his legacy of kindness, strength, and
devotion will continue to inspire all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held at St. Anns Catholic Church, 26 Dogwood Trail, DeBary, FL
32713 on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made
to Tunnel To Towers Foundation in his memory.
