

Marie Aline Jean-Paul, also lovingly known as “Luna,” peacefully transitioned on August 31, 2024 in Deland, FL, at the age of 88. Born in Léogâne, Haiti, on March 8, 1936, Marie's life was a testament to unwavering love, resilience, and a deep commitment to family.
Marie was preceded in death by her father, Osias Charles and mother, LaMercie Beauvais Charles, her sisters, Marie Ciane, Claire Mercile, Osiane, Marierose Lilia, Elita, Marie Therese Chimene, Enalie, her brothers, Tancrede, Rafael, her daughter Dominique, and her husband of 62 years, Joseph Urbain Jean-Paul.
Marie Aline will be sadly missed by her sister, Enmarie Mercedes; her children: Carole Jean-Paul of Encinitas, CA, Garry “Bilal” Jean-Paul of Laurel, MD, Gina Holmes (Ronald) of DeLand, FL, Sabine Robinson (Jessie) of DeLand, FL, Elizabeth “Anoa” Jean Paul of Harlem, NY, Astrid “Aisha” Jean-Paul of Tampa, FL, and Myriam Delien (Auriole) of DeLand, FL.
She is also survived by her 15 beloved grandchildren: Regina Monplaisir, Jonathan Monplaisir, Jennifer Taylor, Chad Holmes, Devin Holmes, Magatte Fall, Fatimah Fuzzell, Yusuf Mahmoud, Jessica Robinson, Amani Jean-Paul, Nadyah Jean-Paul, Yasmine Jean-Paul, Liyah Jean-Paul, Bilal Jean-Paul, and Gabrielle Cervantes, along with her 8 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends—all of whom will hold her memory dear.
Marie was known for her nurturing spirit, infectious laughter, and unwavering faith. She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Debary, FL and attended mass faithfully until she was physically unable. She worked diligently in Healthcare as a Certified Nursing Assistant where she was loved by patients and colleagues alike.
As Haitian immigrants who came to the United States with young children, Joseph and Marie were determined to provide their family with a better life. Through their hard work, Marie and Joseph built a successful life together while sponsoring many family members and friends to join them in the U.S.
Throughout her entire journey, Marie enjoyed spending time with her family more than anything...telling stories, laughing, singing oldies and hymns, sewing and cooking for her family and friends. She could whip up a tasty meal and feed a crowd in no time. She had a heart of compassion and would give to anyone in need. She was a pillar of strength for her family and friends, providing unwavering support and encouragement.
Marie's legacy will live on through her children; grandchildren including, Regina Monplaisir, Jonathan Monplaisir, Jennifer Taylor, Chad Holmes, Devin Holmes, Magatte Fall, Fatimah Fuzzell, Yusuf Mahmoud, Jessica Robinson, Amani Jean-Paul, Nadyah Jean-Paul, Yasmine Jean-Paul, Liyah Jean-Paul, Bilal Jean-Paul, and Gabrielle Cervantes; great-grandchildren; and the countless others whose lives she touched. She will be remembered as a selfless, fun-loving, and graceful woman who made a lasting impact on everyone who crossed her path. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who were touched by her kindness and love. May her soul rest in peace.

Visitation and Funeral will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at St. Ann’s Catholic Church on 26 Dogwood Trail, DeBary, FL 32713.
A visitation will take place in the church’s chapel at 11am. Funeral Services will be held in the main sanctuary at 12pm.
Burial will be at Deltona Memorial Funeral Home & Gardens on 1295 Saxon Blvd, Orange City, FL 32763.
